I graduated in 2020 with honours with a master’s degree in social work in healthcare from the University of Debrecen. This postgraduate study has developed so many of my personal, practical and professional skills as well as expanded my theoretical knowledge of social workers' roles in contemporary social inclusion issues. My master’s research thesis focused on migrants’ objective and subjective well-being and the role of social workers in promoting their integration.
My doctoral research within the ASTRA project focuses on the application of the Capability Approach in the context of forced migration. It aims primarily to identify the key capabilities that contribute to the well-being of forced migrants, including refugees and those under subsidiary or temporary protection. The research also explores how personal, social, structural, and environmental factors impact the capabilities of forced migrants to live the life they value. The research presents a valuable framework for evaluating the freedom, well-being, and conditions of forced migrants, as well as integration policies, humanitarian programs, and social services.
Furthermore, the research examines the compatibility of the Capability Approach with environmental sustainability. It will conceptually investigate some Capability Approach-related concerns, such as well-being, liberalism, freedom of choice, individualism, and anthropocentrism, in order to develop a new more environmentally sustainable version of the Capability Approach.
